Nigeria senior team head coach Eric Chelle has made recent changes to the Nigeria senior team squad for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers in September, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.
Nigeria will participate in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers by opening their campaign at home against Madagascar on the 25th, before traveling to meet Guinea-Bissau in Morocco four days later.
Chelle’s roster was originally due to be released today, but it was postponed until later in the week as the coach made some injury-forced changes while awaiting the fitness of some of the players on his roster.
Sources say the quartet of striker Victor Osimhen, midfield duo Frank Onyeka and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, as well as winger Femi Azeez, are part of the reason behind the move and the decision to delay the roster.
Furthermore, some players who are in the team for the friendly against Russia were only contacted during the week by the coach, who also works as an under-23 coach and will take advantage of the match in Moscow to test most of the players in his plans.
