The Democratic People’s Party (PDP) on Monday held a meeting of the 1100th National Executive Committee (NEC) and returned Senator Samuel Anyanwu as his national secretary
Acting Chairman of the National PDP, Umar Damagum, who gave direction to journalists after the meeting, said the next NEC meeting would be held on July 23.
Previously, Anyanwu and Sunday Udeh-Okoye filed a claim for the position of the National Secretary of PDP.
He said: “As you can see, we only rose from our 100th NEC meeting. This meeting was a one-agenda meeting, namely to discuss the results of our interaction with Inec in connection with the National Secretary.
“We all combine efforts. We all together and we all agreed that the Senator Anyanwu will continue to act as the National Secretary and bring the convention problem to the next NEC, which is scheduled for July 23.
“At that time, we will be able to hold the right NEC where I and Anyanwu will sign a notification to meet the requirements of Inec regulations in holding a meeting.”
Damagum said that it was contrary to the expectations of the descendants that the meeting would end in a crisis, PDP remained the only party with a mechanism to resolve its internal crisis.
“You can see that all our governors attend the meeting; all NWC members are on the same page. You will not see all the press releases and the releasing cons,” he added.
Speaking previously at the start of the meeting, Damagum had advised PDP leaders and members to stop parking the party.
“If you really love this party, I think now is the time for you to pour out your energy in spreading the beauty of the party.
“Stop not marketing the party unless you are one of those who have been contracted to come and destroy our party. I want to say it clearly here, enough enough,” he warned.
The chairman reminded PDP leaders that they had responsibilities to the party.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the PDP Supervisory Board, Adolphus Wabara, said that the party would never die.
He praised members of the National Work Committee of the PDP (NWC) for coming together again and urged them not to allow fertilizers anymore.
“What happens here today will surprise many people. I am sure they will start planning again to bring problems.
