Police at Plateau refused rumors about the planned bomb attack on Unijos, others

Commissioner of the State Police State, CP Emmanuel Adesina, has refused rumors about bomb attacks planned in several strategic locations in JOS, the state capital, which has been circulating on several social media platforms.

Rumors have spread on social media before on Saturday, causing panic as a resident of affected areas including the University of Jos and its surroundings, moving to safer places.

But in a statement by the command on Saturday night, the police refuted the rumors, saying they were baseless because there was no credible evidence to support them.

The order, while urged the residents of the country to remain calm and carry out their normal activities, promised to take proactive action to prevent the possibility of attacks throughout the state.

“This has come to the concern of the highlands of the State Police, the news circulating on social media and other platforms, regarding bomb attacks planned in the Jos University community, and other parts of Jos Metropolis,” the police statement said.

“The State Police Command of the highlands wants to state that these rumors are unfounded, because there is no evidence that can be trusted to support them.

“Nevertheless, the Commissioner of the Police State Command, CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, PSC, has taken proactive steps to prevent the possibility of attacks on the state, and ensure the safety of our dear citizens.

“CP has ordered the direct distribution of explosive weapons (EOD) (Anti-Bomb Squad) to carry out a thorough sweep of the Jos University community and other vulnerable areas in the metropolitan city.

“He has also mobilized a well -trained bomb technician, a special patrol team, and officers from the State Intelligence Department (SID) to a certain lightning point, to increase security architecture and ensure that our beloved country remains peaceful and safe.

“Therefore, the order of the highlands of the State of the State, urges our citizens who are good and loving to remain calm, alert and report everyone who is suspicious, movements or activities around them to the police or the nearest security agent.

“The police commissioner recognizes the importance of community policing; therefore he uses this opportunity to call good citizens from the highlands to work with us by providing accurate, useful and timely information about everyone, movement, or suspicious activity around them.

“We convince you, that we work tirelessly to ensure your safety and safety,” he concluded.
