A Palestinian activist who was detained for more than three months in the US Immigration Prison after protest against Israel sued the Donald Trump government for $ 20 million (ยฃ 15 million) in damage.

Lawyers for Mahmoud Khalil have submitted a claim to the government that accused him of being imprisoned wrongly, prosecuted evil and smeared as an antisemite when the government tried to deport him on his role in campus protests.

Mr Khalil said he was not given an arrest warrant and was not told where he was brought.

He said the detention center he brought was “as far as human as possible” and “a place where you do not have any rights”.

“You share the dormitory with more than 70 men without privacy, with lights all the time, with really terrible food. You are basically inhuman at every opportunity. This is a black hole,” he added.

Mr. Khalil said he would also receive official apologies from Trump’s administration.

Trump Administration celebrates the arrest of Khalil, promising to deport him and others who protest against Israel that he declared was “Pro-terrorist activities, antisemitik, anti-American”.

Mr Khalil said after about 36 hours in captivity he was allowed to talk to his wife, who was pregnant at the time.

“This is a very scary hour, I don’t know what happened outside. I don’t know that my wife is safe,” he said.

‘The right accusation -really makes no sense’

Mr Khalil said that administrative officials had made “truly unreasonable accusations” by saying he was involved in antisemit activities and supporting Hamas.

“They armed antisemitism, arming anti-terrorism to hamper speeches,” he said. “What I do is only against genocide, oppose war crimes, opposing the involvement of Columbia University in war against Gaza.”

A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs said his actions against Khalil were fully supported by the law.

Asked about the loss of the birth of his son when he was in prison, Mr. Khalil said: “I don’t think there are words that can describe the suffering and sadness that I experienced, to lose such divine moments, from the moment my wife and my wife were always dreaming.”

Meanwhile, cases of deportation of Khalil continue to pass through the immigration court system.
