Naira closed the commercial week on Friday, exchanging N1.532.34 to the US dollar in the official market.

According to the data released on the official website of the Nigeria Central Bank, Naira gained 77 kobo against the dollar.

This represents a profit of 0.05 percent compared to the commercial figure of N1.533.11 for dollar recorded at the end of Thursday trading.

The local currency that recorded a constant appreciation of the previous week, also opened the new week of negotiation on Monday 14 July 2025 with a profit of N11.37 against the dollar.

However, Nigeria went to national mourning after the death of the former president Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday 13 July 2025 in a London hospital at the age of 82.

President Bola Tinubu declared seven days of national mourning and a public holiday Tuesday in honor of the deceased former president.

Buhari was put to rest on Tuesday in his hometown, Daura in the state of Katsina.

After the resumption of public holidays on Wednesday, Naira collapsed by recording a loss of N11.36.

Thursday the local currency further collapsed by losing N2.85 before making a slight recovery of 77 kobo on Friday.
