The media assistant for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Paul Ibe, has condemned the Governor of the State Edo on Monday Okpebholo, for his new warning to the former presidential candidate from the Labor Party (LP), Peter Obi, did not enter the country without security permission.
In a faint post that he shared on his X platform on Monday night, Ibe also summoned the Commissioner of the State Edo for information and communication, Paul Uhonabamu, and Chair of the State Chapter of the Congress of All Progressive (APC), Emperor Jarret Tenebe, to support the commemoration of the Governor of Okpebholo, said that it was the height of their arrival.
Okpebholo on Friday, stated that Obi’s security might not be guaranteed if he came to the state another time without approval.
“This message is for people who claim he does not have ‘Shishi’,” said Governor Okpebholo, using local slang for money.
“There is a new sheriff in the city. He can’t just come to Edo without telling me. His safety will not be guaranteed. If something happens to him here, he will blame himself. I am not kidding.
“He came a few days ago and gave N15 million. A man who claimed to have no money, where did he get it?” Okpebholo asked. “After he left, there was a riot in Benin, and three people lost their lives. That’s why I say this: Tell Obi not to enter Edo without telling me first,” said the governor.
Also supporting the warning during the performance of the channel television program on Monday, you accused the former Governor of the Anambra State Hypocrisy and ignored the established security protocol during this new visit to the state.
“Protocol is a standard practice, and Peter Obi knows this. He established it with brutal efficiency when he became governor,” said Uhonabamu.
Go further to justify the commemoration of Okpebholo, the commissioner says:
“What the governor said is not a threat. He only advised Obi to tell the country before a future visit to regulate the right security. If there is something wrong, the government will be blamed.”
On his party, Tenebe, warned Obi and supporters of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), that their safety was not guaranteed in the state.
On the Governor’s Commemoration to Obi, the Chairperson of the APC added:
“Well, since morning, when the preliminary election was ongoing, there was criticism throughout the press on the statement made by the governor yesterday when he received the rest of PDP Edo Central, when he said Peter Obi had to take permission for a general meeting. I thought the governor was right to say that.”
With a reaction that has followed a warning that many Nigerians see as a threat to Obi, Ibe joined the battle with this post:
“The threat of imcuric to Peter Obi by Gov Monday Okpebholo, his commissioner and the head of the state APC Edo, only caused by one thing: illiteracy! People have no hemisphere.”
