Senate denies agreeing to more states, holding a special session for Buhari Wednesday

Senate on Tuesday refuses a report on the approval of the creation of new countries.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, made clarification during the plenary in Abuja.

He said that although the Senate Committee on the constitutional review had received several proposals regarding the formation of additional countries, nothing had been approved.

Akpabio also revealed that the Senate would hold a special session to respect the late former president, Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday.

He said the session would touch the inheritance and contribution of the leader of the deceased to national development.

The Federal Executive Council (FEC (held a special session to respect the late Buhari, who died at the London Hospital on July 13, last Thursday.

“I have seen more than 42 proposals, but no one has experienced full consideration.

“The process of creating a country is very tight and has not been completed in any case,” said the President of the Senate.
