The suspect of armed robbers killed police officers in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the murder of a police officer, Sergeant Aminu Yusuf, by alleged armed robbers in the state.

Joseph was reportedly shot dead by armed people while escorting an expatriate in the city of Benin.

Command spokesman, Moses Yamu, confirmed the incident to journalists on Wednesday in the state capital.

He said two suspects had been arrested in connection with the attack.

The spokesperson added that the order had launched the hunting for other escaped suspects.

Witnesses told reporters that the incident occurred on July 16 along the first East Circle in Benin City.

According to them, the deceased escorted expatriate -owned vehicles after cash withdrawals from the bank when they were ambushed by four armed men.

The attackers reportedly fired on the team, injured police officers, and escaped from the scene with his AK-47 rifle.

He was immediately rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.
