Edo PDP rejected Okpebholo’s claim about the Benin-Asaba road project as misleading

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state of Edo has described the claim of the Governor of Monday Okpebholo about the reconstruction of Benin-Asaba Expressway as misleading.

The new governor claims that he initiated the project.

However, in a statement on Saturday, the Secretary of the Publication Committee of the Party Caregiver, Chris Nehikhare, said “The Governor’s narration distorted public records.”

He condemned the claim that connected the project with the new hope of the President of the Tinubu Bola, describing it as a political propaganda and the presentation of the wrong facts.

According to Nehikhare, this project was understood and completed under the government of the former Godwin Obaseki Governor through a structured public-private partnership framework.

“In January 2024, Obaseki signed the N228 billion concession agreement with Triple A Infrastructure, Infracorp, and Africa Plus Mitra to carry out the rebuilding of the road,” said Nehikhare.

He stressed that this project was part of the initiative of the development and management of the federal government and followed all the required regulations and standards.

Nehikhare notes that this initiative is not a routine contract but an effort to renew the visionary infrastructure designed by Obaseki to provide long -term economic benefits.

He insisted that the federal government did not play a role in project planning or initiation.

PDP spokesman accused that the execution was deliberately postponed until after the EDO 2024 election.
