Prize coach like a player, Father Adeboye urged Tinubu after the victory of Wafcon Falcons

The General Supervisor of the Redered Christian Church (RCCG), Father Enoch Adeboye, has asked the Federal government to ensure the national team coach received financial prizes equivalent to those given to the players, following the Super Falcons victory at the 2024 Women’s African Nation Cup (Wafcon).

Speaking during his sermon titled “The Winning Team” on the RCCG monthly Thanksgiving service held at the throne of the Grace Parish Church in the Otente-Metta, Lagos, Father Adeboye praised President Bola Tinubu for respecting the players. However, he argues that the coaching staff, led by head coach Justin Madugu, should not be ignored in terms of prizes.

“I thank the President for the prize to Falcons. However, I am not sure I agree that the coaches must receive less than the players. Without coaches, the team will not succeed. However, I do not want to get controversy. God bless the coaches, because you need it,” said Adeboye.

President Tinubu had previously gave a national award to all 24 players and technical crew of 11 members, including Madugu coach. Each accepted the Order Niger (Oon) officer, a three-bedroom apartment under the latest HOUSE HOUSE SCHEME, and Cash Prize, $ 100,000 (In Equivalent Naira) for players and $ 50,000 for technical team members.

Drawing from personal experience, Father Adeboye, who revealed he was a boxer, reflected in the eternal influence of his former coach during the 1960s.

“Back in 1960, I had a coach who gave us a difficult time. At one point, we were dealing with him, wondering if we were trained for the army.
But today, I thank him. He built strength within us. He will ask me to push the wall as if I want to pull it down. A good coach sees your potential and encourages you to be better, “he recalls.

Concluding his message, a respected scholar emphasizes the vital role of the coach in the success of each team, urges both the government and the community to appreciate discipline, future views, and sacrifice behind their scenes.

“A good coach is the architect of every victory. Their work may be silent, but the impact is the basis,” he said.
