NCDMB increases the BMA cash prize at N1M …

With a significant move that would stimulate excellence in the media report and affect the interests, the advice for the development and monitoring of Nigerian content (NCDMB) has made a significant increase in cash prizes of its three categories sponsored in the Bayelsa Media Awards (BMA).

The agency has increased the cash prize to one million Naira (N1.000.000) and a new laptop for the individual winners of its categories.

The sponsored categories of the Council are “NCDMB Award for the reporter of the year of the oil press and gas of the Niger Delta; NCDMB Award for the reporter of the year of the oil transmission and the gas of the Niger Delta and the NCDMB prize for the reporter of the economy of the year of the Niger delta region.”

The prize for each prize was previously n150,000 [One hundred and fifty thousand naira] and brand new laptop for each winner.

This marked increase was disclosed by the general manager of the NCDMB, company communications, Dr. Obinna Ezeobi at the headquarters of the Board of Directors in Yenagoa, in the state of Bayelsa, Friday.

He declared that the increase was consistent with the mandate and dedication of the Board of Directors to the construction of the capacity and promotion of talents in the key sectors connected to the oil and gas industry.

He thanked the executive secretary of NCDMB, ENG FELIX OMATSOLA OGBE, for having approved the increase and his profound appreciation of the critical roles that the media and strategic communication in the promotion and implementation of local content.

He underlined the need to celebrate and reward excellence in important sectors of our national life, to motivate dedication and inspire the next generation.

Dr. Ezeobi observed that the increase in the prize had made BMA one of the most rewarding prizes in the Nigerian media industry, just like Ncdmb is the most performing federal agency in the country for three years, as awarded by the council for the qualifying corporate environment (Pebec).

The GM has referred to the NCDMB support to the media industry in the last 15 years from the existence of the agency. These included the annual construction of the abilities of the interested parties of the media across the country, social responsibility projects and advertising patronage. He also said that NCDMB has been a BMMA Stalwart supporter since 2015, describing the partnership as successful and great impact. He expressed the hope that the prizes increased stimulated the journalistic ability and improve the overall contribution of the media to national development.

Reacting to development, the Project Manager Victor Binawari who described the NCDMB as the longest partner appreciated the Board of Directors for the astronomical update that will encourage greater effort and commitment for excellence in the media space of the region.

Binawari said that with over 170 voices received alone this year, it is a clear sign of acceptedness and trust in the brand. He promised to continue to be based on the successes of the editions and to support the integrity and reputation that the BMA has built over the years. The Project Manager also said that the brand’s mission was to promote professionalism and excellence in the media, which perfectly aligns with NCDMB’s objectives, making this partnership a victory for both organizations.

He informed the sponsors that the process of voting and judgment had started from the 1st month and would end on September 20 and the winners would be announced at the ceremony on 9 October in Yenagoa, while asked the public to access www.bma.org.ng for more details.
