MPsina MPs cried when Bandit flooded eight wards, kill 12 in Matazu

Tension has gripped the state of Katsina after the bandit reportedly took control of eight of the 10 wards in the Regional Government of Matazu, killing at least 12 people in only two days.

The gloomy situation was revealed on Tuesday during the plenary at the House of the Katsina State Assembly, where the whip head, Ibrahim Umar Dikko, cried while greeting his colleagues.

“Of the 10 wards, eight were surrounded. Farmers could not go to agriculture. Only yesterday, near the entrance of the city near the secondary school, they killed a young man and crawled four cattle,” said Dikko, seemed overwhelmed.

MPs warned that farmers were forced to leave their agricultural land, leaving the entire community without a livelihood. The latest encourages members of parliament to immediately give a motion to call on the state and federal government to mobilize reinforcements to Matazu and Sabuwa neighbors. The assembly also demanded an investigation of what was described as the withdrawal of security personnel who were suddenly from the affected area.

Residents, however, insist that the crisis has not yet been resolved. Villagers in Matazu and Sabuwa said that agricultural land is still unsafe, families are still displaced, and attacks continue to be out of control.

“We have not seen a new spread. People are too afraid to return to their agriculture,” said Aminu Murtala, a resident of Rinjin Idi, one of the six new communities to submit a petition to the Governor of the State because of the deteriorating sense of insecurity.

The Chairman of the Matazu Regional Government Council, Shamsuddeen Muhammad Sayaya, has requested calm, insisting that efforts are being carried out to curb violence. “The authorities work tirelessly with security agents to restore peace,” he convinced.

Apart from this guarantee, the locals said the bandits remained rooted in the villages, upholding fear and disturbing their daily lives, with a slight indication but a strong military or police response.
