APC suffers from the main defender in Nasarawa as a former chairman of Karu, supporters of joining ADC

In a significant political reshuffle in the nasarawa state, Hon. Akala Samuel Gajere, a leading tribal chief from the Congress of All Progressive (APC) and former Chairman of the Karu Regional Government, has officially separated from the ruling party, bringing more than 5,000 supporters with him to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Akala, who led a political group known as Munatare (which means “We Together”), announced mass defeats on August 22, 2025, in a letter addressed to the APC Panda/Karu Ward.

“I wrote to officially submit the resignation of my membership from all the progressive congress (APC), immediately effective,” Akala said in the letter.

“While I want to convey my sincere appreciation to the party for giving me a platform to serve in various capacities, I ordered the party’s leadership to try to strengthen the internal democratic mechanism of the party to give all members of belonging,” he added.

The issuance of this high profile, along with thousands of supporters of grass roots from all states, indicates the riots that grow in the APC in the nasarawa. Persistent internal leadership disputes and leadership that have not been resolved continue to overshadow party stability when preparing for the 2027 election.

Observers suggest that unless APC immediately overcomes its internal challenges, this new wave of consolation can open the door for the parties -the opposition like ADC to get land in the state.
