Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has intensified his search for a new number 10 for the team, with Alex Iwobi the only viable option for the position at the moment.

As we exclusively reported, the coach has included a new creative player as part of his priorities in the team in the future and has already begun the process of identifying possible options.

We can exclusively reveal that Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Francis Onyeka, who spent last season on loan at VFL Bochum in the second division, tops their list.

The 19-year-old scored 8 goals in 30 league games last season and the club believe he has gained enough experience to try out for a top division team.

According to Sky, newly promoted SV Elversberg have agreed all terms to have him on a season-long loan next season. His second signing after Maurice Krattenmacher arrived on Friday from FC Bayern on a permanent contract.

Chelle has now detailed that his scouting team will be contacting him in a bid to convince him to play for Nigeria, after representing Germany at various youth levels.

Contacts have been made with his representatives and a source revealed that his father is open to the idea of his son changing nationality to Nigeria, but will let him have the final say.
