Tinubu ensures Colombia the rapid implementation of all bilateral agreements – Thage

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthen international partnerships and align his foreign relations with global evolving global trends in trade, politics and culture.

The president, who received the vice -president of the Republic of Colombia, France Márquez, at the State House of Abuja on Monday, observed that global economic volatility and international policies will require new partners for shared prosperity.

President Tinubu has ensured the delegation of the senior government, of the business and diplomatic officials of the South American country that Nigeria will replicate the agreements signed with Brazil on aviator and consular issues with Colombia.

The president said that the conclusions of all bilateral meetings and signed agreements, under the supervision of the vice -president, Senator Kashim Shettimo, will receive rapid attention.

“I believe that the vice -president and his team have done the job. Our commercial opportunities with Colombia have already been improved. I support every aspect on which you have agreed.

“In particular for Colombia, the agreement we have entered into with Brazil can be easily replicated in aviation and our diplomatic relationships can be improved. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will accelerate it,” he said.

President Tinubu urged the corporate leaders to explore opportunities in the oil and Nigerian gas sector and agriculture.

The president said that the youth and growing population of Nigeria presents a good market and a qualified workforce to support investments.

Vice -President Shettimo observed that the visit of the Colombian vice -president would rekindle the ancestral connections interrupted by slavery and colonialism, positioning both nations for prosperous collaboration. He highlighted the political and cultural similarities that will encourage healthy economic collaboration.

The vice -president of Colombia has highlighted several areas to strengthen bilateral relationships, including aviation, visas, political consultations, cultural exchanges and trade.

“As the first black vice -president of Colombia, I am extremely happy to guide this visit to the land of our ancestors. Our ancestors have been taken away by the African centuries,” he said.

Marquez said that his visit will kick off a long -lasting relationship built on a substantial similarity and cultural heritage.

He assured that relationships with Nigeria would benefit from both countries, in particular in sectors such as social justice, gender equality and inclusiveness.

“We had a meeting with corporate leaders in aviation on the need to start direct flights to Colombia,” added the vice -president.

Marquez said that the role of leadership of Nigeria in Africa and the role of the African Union in the restoration and repair will improve relationships with Latin America and the Caribbean.

At the meeting present there were the head of the staff Femi Gbajabiamilaila; Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar; Coordinated minister for finances and economics, Wale Edun; Minister of Industry, Commerce and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; And the Minister of Affairs of Women and Social Development, IMAAN SULAIMAN-IBRAHIM.
