Police begin investigations after the body of a mutilated woman was found in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation after the mutilated body of an unidentified woman was discovered in Ondo town.

The body was reportedly found on Monday in the GRA area, off Barracks Road, Ondo West Local Government Area.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the incident in a statement released to journalists on Tuesday.

Jimoh said police have launched a full-scale investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the discovery.

According to him, the command received a report at around 9.40am on Monday, July 13, regarding a lifeless body found near the GRA roundabout along Barracks Road.

He said police officials were immediately dispatched to the spot after receiving the complaint.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a female victim whose identity had not yet been established.

Preliminary observation by the police revealed that the body had been mutilated.

Jimoh said investigators were working to identify the deceased, track down those responsible and determine the motive for the killing.

The police spokesperson condemned the incident, calling it a barbaric act.

He assured residents that the command would make every effort to bring the culprits to justice.

Jimoh appealed to the public with useful information to contact the nearest police station or reach the command through its emergency lines.

He added that the area remained calm and that security measures had been put in place to protect residents while the investigation continued.

The Ondo State Police Command said it is committed to safeguarding lives and properties across the state.
