‘You can run to NGOs, they don’t have anything to offer you’, Lagos Official Mocks Corsanchs of Demolition (Video)

The Permanent Secretary in the City Development Office in the State of Lagos, Gbolahan Owoduni, has mocked the victims who accommodated and the property was destroyed by the state government in the Oworonshoki region in the state, told them to bring their cry to NGOs because no one would get out of their results.

Oworo Youth Forum (OYF) in a statement on Saturday, condemning the demolition of the ongoing house in Oworonshoki, describing the exercise as a crime against humanity.

The statement was signed together by
Secretary of OYF, Opeyemi Ogunlami, and public relations officials, Towolawi Jamiu, the group accused that the exercise was part of a larger attack that had lasted for more than two years.

“Demolition exercise is a continuation of the attack on Oworoshoki which began in July 2023, where more than 1,000 houses have been destroyed and more than 30,000 people become homeless, including women and children. We condemn this savage acts directly!” said.

According to OYF, the demolition was carried out in the middle of the night, with residents worn by tears by government officials.

“We know that the ruling APC government in lagos is evil and heartless, but never knows they can be inhumane to destroy the houses of people who work in the middle of the night while they are sleeping, including firing tears in those who try to take pictures and videos,” he said.

This forum also accused the state government of trying to displace the poor for the benefit of the rich.

“There is an ongoing plan to change Oworoshoki to Estate Villa Elite, and this is being advertised on a billboard around Oworoshoki, Victoria Island, and Lekki with a minimum price of N120,000 per square meter or around N60m per plot,” he said.

While reacting to the accusations in a video, Owodunni argues that the population has more than three years to obtain government approval, but failed to act.

“We gave you all enough time, more than three years. We even announced the need to visit the government for one year in Wazobia FM. We made announcements in English and Joruba but none of you left. Only one of you left and received approval.

“Now that after the demolition has occurred, you shouted ‘the government, government.’ Some government officials came recently, and you bluffed them.

“Some of you are still in a survey plan, but anyone, any nonentity can prepare a survey plan.

“We want to develop, but things must be done immediately. I know you will run to the NGOs, but they don’t have anything to be offered to you. What is their own country? What is this America, London? But they come here and start giving you false hope. If that’s their country, why do you all want to travel there?

“They will only use you to raise money and promise to help you,” he said.
