2025 Africa U18 Youth Cup: Nigeria is satisfied with bronze on the beach

The team of the girls of Nigeria conquered the bronze medal at the cup for the development of the youth of the Beach Volleyball Africa U18 of 2025 which was held on Saturday in Banjul.

The Nigerian team defeated Morocco 2-0 (21-7, 21-12) in the match of third place after a close loss of 2-1 (16-21, 21-16, 15-12) against the Congo Dr in the semifinal.

The coach of the volleyball team of the Nigeria beach, John Iwerima, praised his players for their determination and the combat spirit during the tournament.

He said: “I am proud of the girls. They gave the best on the pitch and showed a great character.

“We will take time to reflect on this tournament, we will learn from our mistakes and ensure that we do not underestimate any team in future competitions.”

The president of the Cavb Beach volleyball commission, Musa Nimrod has applauded the performance of all the participating teams, underlining the potential of African nations in sport.

He said: “The level of competition has improved and I have to praise all the teams for their effort.

“The future of beach volleyball in Africa is very bright. With the right development, we can soon compete with the best European nations.”

Dr. Congo finished the first place while the Gambia host placed the second position.

In the meantime, the team of Nigeria Boy has lost against Sierra Leone in the match of the quarter -finals.

The U18 Youth Cup medal booked a place in the youth Olympic Games next year in Dakar, in Senegal.
