Spain declares the embargo with weapons on Israel

The Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, is imposing an embargo of weapons on Israel as part of an effort for, in his words, “stop the genocide in Gaza”.
The nine measures, which must immediately enter into force, also include a ban on travel on people directly involved in what has called a “massacre”.
“Spain will be on the right side of the story,” said Sánchez, who was one of the most sincere national leaders in his criticisms of Israel’s military operations in Gaza.

Other steps include an increase in humanitarian aid for Gaza, further funding for the United Nations Agency for rescue and works for Palestine refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and a ban on importing products from Israeli settlements.
The goal is to support the Palestinian population, but also guarantee that the responsible for attacks on the civilian population are pursued.
As for the formal accusation of the genocide, Sánchez said: “This is no longer a defense, it is not even an attack, it is the extermination of a defenseless people”.
He criticized what he described as “indifference” and “complicity” of the international community.
The United Nations define the genocide as “acts engaged with the intention of destroying, in whole or in part, in a national, ethnic, racial or religious group”.
South Africa has filed a lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice in the Hague on charges of violation of the Convention on the genocide in the Gaza Strip.
Israel rejects the accusation of genocide against the Palestinians and accuses the terrorist organization of Hamas of systematically abusing the civilian population as human shields.
