Captain of Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong has expressed his confidence in the Nigerian team before Tuesday’s clash with South Africa.
Speaking at the press conference prior to the match, Troost-Ekong highlighted the preparation and focus of the team.
“This game will be a new occasion. Of course, we have a level of trust due to the preparation we have made. There is no arrogance; we simply focus on being ready,” he said.
Recognizing the challenge ahead, he described Bafana Bafana as “a very good team” and pointed out that his previous match in the 2023 Africa Cup of Africa had been one of the most difficult games they had played.
Despite this, Troost-Ekong expressed his confidence in the skills of his teammates.
“We respect South Africa, but we trust what we can do.”

Troost-Ekong also emphasized the unit inside the squad.
“One thing I can say about this team is unity, union and understanding. Players want to fight in the same direction, regardless of the club or background. It is a real brotherhood,” he added.
Troost-Ekong did not start Nigeria’s last game against Rwanda, with Benjamin Frederick gave the opportunity to play.
He left the bank in the 88th minute for Cyriel’s pose, helping Nigeria maintain a 1-0 advantage and ensure the three points.
The pattern is expected to return to the initial alignment against South Africa.
