The Nobel Prize, Prof. Wole Soyinka opened on how it was kidnapped and robbed during his visit to Bucharest, the capital of Romania.
Soyinka, who revealed that he was in Romania to participate in the Sibiu International Theater Festival, said he had been robbed shortly after arriving in the European country.
The famous author also accused the Romanian government and the complicity police in the management of the robbery accident, stating that despite having denounced the accident to the authorities, no significant action was undertaken.
Speaking in a recent interview with Thenows/PmNews, Soyinka added that the police would contain the question silently without giving him any update.
Narrant the accident, the 91 -year -old playwright explained that after losing his reception party at Bucharest airport, he got on board what seemed to be an official taxi directed to his hotel.
Soyinka said that the driver diverted from the path to Novotel Hotel and led in a deserted and poorly illuminated area.
“At almost one in the morning, the driver stopped in an unknown place and revealed a POS car, pushing me to enter my pivot,” said Soyinka.
He said he deliberately entered the hornrum repeatedly for almost half an hour to block me for the time, hoping for an intervention.
“I had to enter without seeing the screen because he continued to hide it. For about 25-30 minutes, I deliberately entered the wrong pivot, hoping that someone appears, perhaps someone from the hotel or a passerby. But the place was completely deserted,” he said.

Soyinka said that his kidnapper eventually extracted money from his account before leaving him close to his hotel.
While complaining about the loss, Soyinka stressed that his main concern was the failure of the authorities to manage the case in a transparent and decisive way.
He added: “Not that I like to lose money. But for me it is much smaller. It’s not just an attack for me as an individual; it is an assault on the community.
“There have been some aspects of the case management that really troubled me, which I intend to detail in the next edition of my series of interventions.
“For me, the accident underlines the dangers of organized crime and the need for responsibility.”
