The technical director of Heartland FC, Emmanuel Amuneke, welcomed the result of the draw of the Nigeria National League (NNL) draw that placed the Nazei millionaires in the southern conference in Crown FC, Edel FC, Sunshine Stars, E-World FC, Inter Fc Lagos, Smart City FC, Godswill Akpabio United United FC, Abia Commets and Beyond Limits.

Speaking after the draw, Amuneke expressed confidence in the readiness of his team, underlining that Heartland will be strongly challenged in respect of any opponent of the group.

“We expect the draw and with what we have done since June when the team has resumed reconstruction, we are ready to compete. It is a welcome development and we respect all the teams of our group because they deserve to be there,” said the player of the 1994 CAF year in Heartland FC Media.

The former Super Eagles wing has noticed significant progress since the club started its renovation process, highlighting the mixture of new purchases and players withheld as a key force in view of the new season.

“Some of the players that we used last season have left and brought new players. Our goal is to use this new harvest, together with those retaining, to achieve our goal of returning to the NPFL.

“The new players are adapting very well and I am happy with their commitment. I can categorically say that we are much better than last season because we have had more time to prepare and evaluate the team,” said Amuneke.

He also underlined the role of IMO people on the return journey to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), pushing the continuous support for the State Football team.

“Heartland FC remains the IMO State Team. Imolites deserve the best and we know they want the best for their club. They have the right to express their opinions and we have to listen. But above all, we call them to stand in good and bad times, because their support will bring us closer to our goal”, he added.

Heartland FC will begin their campaign in the NNL season of 2025/26 with a renewed determination to ensure a quick return to the Topflight when they face the Ogbomosho Crown FC in the first game of November 8, 2025 in Ogbomosho.
