Tinubu to declare the editors’ conference of 2025 in November – Thage

The Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), the Professional Elite organ of CEO of CEOs, news directors and editors of the press, transmission and average online, will hold its 2025 conference at the Nigeria Editors (ANEC) from 3 November to 6th, 2025 on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

The president of the NGE, Eze Anaba and the Secretary General, Onuoha Ukeh, declared in a declaration on Sunday 21 September 2025 that the annual conference would have been declared open by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

They confirmed in the declaration that the theme of the conference is “democratic governance and national cohesion: the role of publishers”.

The attimacy of the conference, according to the declaration, would focus on “electoral integrity and trusted deficit: what the Nigerians expect in 2027”.

The declaration states that the conference would examine the role of publishers in promoting democratic governance and national cohesion.

The guild added that the conference would discussed “challenges and opportunities that the editors must face in the promotion of democratic values ​​and national cohesion”.

The declaration also states that the 2025 ANEC would also be “identifying the best practices and strategies for editors to promote democratic governance and national cohesion”.

Against the background of the conference, the Gilda said that the president Tinubu, the leaders of the political parties of the opposition in the country and the main parties concerned have constantly underlined the importance of the support of the media in promoting the bonds that combine the different populations of Nigeria, promoting a sense of unity and a collective purpose despite political, ethnic, religious and cultural differences. “

The guild said that in the face of socio -economic challenges, “there is a need for units in diversity, shared values, inclusion, dialogue and understanding, which would do a lot to achieve national cohesion”.

The NGE said that the conference, on the first day, would have had an opening ceremony in which President Tinubu will participate; the Minister of the Territory of the Federal capital, lawyer Nyesom Wike; Minister of information and national orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, other ministers, governors, members of the diplomatic body and organized private sector.

The conference, according to the declaration, would also present a key speech on the subject and on other articles, such as: “electoral disputes and judicial integrity: navigating in the subtle line between law and politics” and the “State of the nation: imperative of economic and political reforms in the challenged nation”.

Other articles include: “The evolution face of journalism: to combat disinformation, the interruption of artificial intelligence and the gap of credibility”; “Media, terrorism and national security: to face complexity” and “wealth beyond the editorial staff: investment opportunities for editors after Call of Duty”.

The declaration states that over 500 media professionals from the inside and outside the country would have participated in the conference, which is taking place in the FCT for the second time in 12 years.

According to the Gilda, “the ANEC holds every year for the editors to face and discuss national issues that have social, economic and political consequences in Nigeria.

“The ANEC of this year is designed to provide a platform for media editors/leaders to explore the ways to promote national development and cohesion through responsible and reactive journalism, highlighting the importance of unity, diversity and inclusiveness and to consider leaders responsible in this regard”, says the declaration.
