Katsina Govt revealed 3,488 ghost workers in salary

The Katsina state government has found 3,488 ghost workers after biometric filtering in the state.

Ghost workers are found on the salary list of 34 regional government regions and local education authorities (LEA) during training.

Governor Dikko Radda, who received a training report on Thursday in Katsina, praised the committee for giving credible results despite pressure from several quarters.

He said: “We have been in the system for a long time, and we know that these things exist.

“Many people complain and even warn me that the committee’s work can damage my politics and spend my election costs.

“But I’m not worried, because the situation in Katsina needs system reform and do the right thing.”

The governor added that the local government currently has more than half a billion naira which is stored as a result of the committee’s work.

“Reducing this burden will free more funds to support the development of grassroots.

“I did this to save the situation from several clutches.

He added that the remaining 388 was deleted because it presented fake credentials, escaped from the task, involved in fraud, or refused to appear before the committee.
