The Kaduna State Police Command arrested six suspicious armed thieves, five receivers and three others for the illegal possession of firearms in separate operations throughout the state.
The command also recovered three pistols, several rounds of ammunition, 45 phones and a laptop.
The command spokesman, DSP Mansir Hassan, declared in a declaration that the arrest followed the operations led by the intelligence by the agents of the operation Fushin Kada Tracking and Response Team between 10 and 18 September 2025.
He said that on 11 September the agents arrested a notorious gang leader, Fahad Babangida, together with his accomplices, Ahmed Lawal and Salahudeen Ibrahim.
Presumably the suspicions were planning to attack a retired NNPC staff before being intercepted. Their confession led to the arrest of two other members of the gang, Isah Musa and Usman Abdullahi, who are believed to be behind several thefts with burglary and vehicles that tear accidents inside Rigasa in the metropolis of Kaduna.
The suspicions also mentioned their receivers, identified as aka Kabiru Sabitu Baban Godya, Abdullahi Shehu and Yusuf Saleh, who were also arrested and confessed to help the disposal of stolen objects.
Likewise, on September 10, the police arrested Abubakar Usman Bello, it is said to be a member of a union involved in the tear of the phone. His arrest led to the recovery of 45 phones and a laptop Echimens, while his receivers were also taken into custody. Since then the case has been accused in court.
Hassan said: “Another team of patrol team of the Kabala West Division, on September 15, arrested two suspicions, Ibrahim Hassan, 19 years old, and Usman Abubakar, 21 years old, with a gun and three rounds of live ammunition during a stop-orthowing operation at Ungwar Mu’azu Bypass.”
On September 18, the agents arrested a Simon Haruna by Barikin Ladi, a plateau state, for illegal possession of a firearm. It was intercepted in the area of the local government of Igabi while trying to sell a Beretta gun loaded with three rounds. The suspicion confessed to being a gunrunner who operates between the plateau and Kaduna.
The police commissioner, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the agents for their professionalism and urged the residents to remain vigilant and provide timely information to the police to improve security in the state.
