16 Nigerian military officers face disciplinary acts

The Head Office of Defense (DHQ) said on Saturday that at least 16 military officers in the country would face disciplinary acts due to alleged discipline and violations of service regulations.

Director of Defense Information, Brig.-Gen. Tukur Gusau, revealed this in a statement in Abuja.

He said the officers were arrested during routine military training after an investigation of various actions that were considered inconsistent with military discipline and service ethics.

The spokesperson added that the findings revealed that some officers’ complaints were related to the perception of career stagnation arising from repeated failures in promotional examinations and other services related to services.

“Some officers who were arrested had previously been monitored for various violations, both waiting or undergoing trial.

He said the ongoing action was purely disciplined and part of a routine effort to maintain order, discipline and professionalism in the armed forces.

The spokesman convinced the public that the military remained committed to upholding its core values about loyalty, integrity, and constitutional compliance under democratic authority.

“The Nigerian armed forces will not tolerate any behavior that damages cohesion or threatens its constitutional role.

“The military remains fully committed to the professionalism and defense of Nigeria’s sovereignty,” he added.
