The Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has arrested suspected arms smugglers and suspected fraudsters in separate operations in Kano State.
This was disclosed by the NSCDC Public Relations Officer in the state, Ibrahim Idris-Abdullahi, in a statement on Wednesday in Kano.
He said officers arrested the suspected shooter while carrying out a routine patrol along Murtala Muhammad Way, Kano, and confiscated six firearms.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, Suleiman M. Uba, 31, hails from Tashene village in Zaki Local Government Area of Bauchi State and was on his way to Kebbi State at the time of his arrest.
“The arrests were made following credible intelligence and proactive patrol operations aimed at curbing the proliferation of illegal weapons and light weapons, as well as preventing criminal activities in Kano State and its environs.

” In a related development, officers also arrested a suspected fraudster, Abbas Lawan Garkuwa, 37, in Kwankwasiyya Town in Kumbotso Local Government Area of Kano State.
“The suspect was found in possession of 600,000 fake US dollars, equivalent to N900 million, and many fetish items (Juju) used to defraud the unsuspecting public.
“Both cases are being thoroughly investigated and the suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is complete,” the statement said.
