The court acquitted Kyari of the charge of non-asset declaration

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday dismissed and acquitted the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Inspector General of Police, Abba Kyari, over alleged non-asset declaration.

The super cop was charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) with a 23-count indictment for failure to declare assets.

He was detained along with his two brothers for allegedly swearing to make false statements to conceal the origin of certain properties.

In his ruling, the judge held that the NDLEA failed to provide sufficient evidence to prove the charges against the accused.

Justice Omotosho ruled that the agency had not presented any credible material linking Kyari to the property located at Fountain Estate, Kasana.

The property is thought to belong to Ramatu Kyari.
