Jaja and Jaji substations get upgraded power transformers – TCN
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) said its Kaduna Region has received two 150 MVA 330/132/33 kV power transformers at Jaja Transmission Substation in Kudan Local Government Area and two 66 MVA 132/33 kV power transformers at Jaji Substation in Igabi Local Government Area, both in Kaduna State, Monday 2 March 2026.
TCN said the two strategically designed substation projects to improve power supply reliability and expand transmission capacity in the North-West region are financed by the African Development Bank (AFDB). “The projects have reached an advanced stage, generating optimism among third country stakeholders and the community.”
“Once completed, the Jaja 330/132/33kV transmission substation will be connected to the Kano 330 kV transmission line, a critical link that will significantly strengthen transmission capacity in the region.”
Core Reporters report that the new substations will equally help reduce power outages, improve voltage stability and ensure more reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution load centers for delivery to electricity customers in Kano State and surrounding areas.
