Sexual assault: Nigeria U20 captain receives six-month prison sentence in Norway

The captain of the Nigerian under-20 team, Daniel Daga, has been found guilty of sexual activity without consent and sentenced to six months in prison, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

The 19-year-old appeared before the Nordmøre and Romsdal district court for having committed a sexual act against a non-consenting person.

However, the player, through his defense lawyer, has notified an appeal against the sentence. The case is therefore not legally binding and, according to a statement from his club Molde, will be processed in the judicial system.

Molde says Daga will not be part of the party team until further notice due to the situation and the ongoing legal process.

Daga arrived at Molde last year from Enyimba after excelling with the Nigeria U20 team at the World Cup.
