The court granted the ICPC’s request to access the devices recovered from El-Rufai’s home

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on Thursday, gave the green light to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission (ICPC), to access and analyze electronic devices recovered from the residence of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.

The judge granted the order following an ex-parte motion filed by ICPC lawyer, Osuobeni Akponimisingha.

Akponimisingha, has filed a motion, seeking an order granting the commission permission to access and analyze the contents of the device for inspection, forensic examination and forensic data extraction in furtherance of the ongoing investigation against the former governor.

ICPC officers discovered 14 sets of electrical devices during a search at the former governor’s house in Abuja.

These devices include Sony HD-EGS storage devices, Transcend ITB storage devices, Toshiba storage devices, Samsung phones, Nokia phones – N958GB, Blackberry phone devices, and Google IDEOS phones.

Others are a Samsung storage device-SPO802N, a Superb tablet, an Apple MacBook Pro – black, a Seagate Freeagent desk external drive, a ZTE phone, 10 flash drives and a Microcell memory card.

El-Rufai is currently facing the same court, challenging the search of his house and demanding N1 billion compensation.

In the human rights enforcement lawsuit, the former governor appointed ICPC, Chief Judge at the FCT Magistrates Court, Abuja; The Inspector General (IG) of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) are the respondents.
