We play with the strength of Osimhen, not with Onuachu – Explains Super Eagles Stars

Paul Onuachu’s recent run in front of goal for Turkish side Trabzonspor has sparked discussions as to why he cannot replicate the same form for the Nigerian senior team, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Onuachu has been in excellent form this season with 21 goals in 23 league games. In all competitions he has 23 goals in 26 games, including goals in ten consecutive games.

Meanwhile, for the Nigerian senior team he has four goals in 34 games since making his debut in 2019. He has also played in two senior tournaments where he only has one goal.

“Club football is totally different from international football. We mainly train with Osimhen as the main man than Onuachu. That’s why we play more with his strength. That’s how I see it,” revealed a Super Eagles player.

Another player said that it is very difficult to give an explanation, but he feels that Paul has not had a long career in the team to show his true colors, so he is always under pressure to deliver when he comes to play.

“If you ask me, it’s totally different. Paul, like most of the forwards in the team, hasn’t been given a regular spell of play. They’ve been in and out, unlike Osimhen, who has been in the three for a while. There’s a different kind of pressure that a player who isn’t a regular faces,” a team member explained at the recent AFCON.
