Wike ally Senator Aduda finally leaves PDP for APC, promises support for Tinubu ahead of 2027

A key ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, former Senator Philip Aduda has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Aduda, who represented the FCT in the Senate, formally announced his defection on Tuesday at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

The former Senate Minority Leader said his decision was guided by his commitment to national progress and his faith in the policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He also pledged to mobilize strong political support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Reflecting on his role in the 2023 elections, Aduda noted that although he was still a PDP member at the time, he played a significant role in mobilizing support for Tinubu and helped resolve electoral challenges.

“I played a significant role in mobilizing support for Mr. President during the 2023 general elections. Whenever challenges related to the conduct of the elections arose, I was often at the center of resolving them,” he said.

Aduda explained that his decision to fully align with the APC was deliberate and aimed at strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

“I have made a deliberate decision to fully align myself with the APC and pledge to work for the success of Mr. President. I am confident that victory in future elections will not be difficult for us,” he added.

He described his defection as part of a broader political realignment across the country, noting that many Nigerians who believe in reform, development and progressive governance are gravitating towards the ruling party.

According to him, the administration’s “Renewed Agenda of Hope” continues to attract broad support due to its focus on economic restructuring and national development.

Aduda also expressed confidence that the North Central region will play a crucial role in strengthening the APC and providing strong electoral support in the coming years.

“With the level of support we are seeing, I am confident that the North Central will deliver strong results in favor of the APC,” he said.
