Exclusive: No NPFL players in Super Eagles squad for friendlies

Nigeria senior national team coach Eric Chelle has not included any Nigerian national league players in his squad for the upcoming four-team friendly tournament in Turkey, OwnGoalNigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Nigeria will participate in a four-team tournament in Türkiye, featuring Iran, Jordan and Costa Rica. It was originally scheduled to take place in Jordan, but was postponed due to escalating violence in the Middle East.

Super Eagles will not be in the world cup, but will use the tournament to begin the second phase of the team’s rebuild under Chelle, who led the team to a third-place finish at the AFCON in January.

They will open their tournament campaign against Iran on March 27, while Jordan will face Costa Rica in the other match of the tournament.

According to the organizer, the final round of games will be played on March 31, with Nigeria against Jordan and Iran against Costa Rica.

Ahead of the tournament, the coach has already presented the list of players, we can exclusively reveal that no player from the Nigerian League was called up by the coach, according to our sources.

However, the coach is open to the idea of ​​having some of them in his team in June, when they will play other friendly matches.
