DJ Smallz is back with his partners “ZEP”, bringing Zee Nxumalo’s 5x Platinum credentials to the party with “Ngyazama”, a brand new five-way collaboration with Amapiano.
This one actually has some pressure behind it. “ZEP” has garnered more than 30 million total streams across digital platforms, meaning every DJ Smallz project released afterward carries the weight of that comparison. “Ngyazama” does not try to imitate “ZEP”. Instead it just gives a different energy to the same circle of creatives. ZinedinexSguche returned from the previous lineup as did Zee Nxumalo and Brodie. Brother, Mdeshkayro brings additional dimensions that the previous record had never explored.
Adding to the title is the appearance of Zee Nxumalo. His single “Funk 55” has been certified 5x platinum in South Africa, so it has impressive commercial credentials that immediately boost the record’s streaming chances. His vocal warmth also rides well on the production structure of DJ Smallz’s Amapiano. So the addition is never a forced thing. It seems to be the appropriate innovative decision at the right time.
Brodie. Bro and Mdeshkayro cover the rest of the zone with contributions that keep the puck moving without overloading the production. They also collaborated previously on an older version of “Ngyazama,” a familiarity with the song that shows how stable their performances are.
It’s more of a bigger picture than a one-off thanks to the backdrop of the “Vogue” album for DJ Smallz and his continued output into 2026.
Listen to “Ngyazama” and tell us, can this match the numbers of “ZEP”?
