Knights reach 54 unanswered as Showtime’s flag football comes to life: Rebels rise, Ikan crashes, standings turned upside down

The first week of Showtime Bowl Series

In what can only be described as a demolition, the Knights crushed the Rivers Alphas 54-0, sending shock waves throughout the league and catapulting themselves from seventh to first place in one of the most dramatic opening day rises in Showtime history. It was a performance based on total dominance: unstoppable offense, impenetrable defense.

Not far away, the Abia Warriors issued an equally brutal statement, dispatching the Lagos Greenbacks 51-0. However, in a twist that defines Showtime’s unpredictability, their big win dropped them from 1st to 2nd, while the Knights’ superior margin stole the show.

The drama didn’t end there.

The Ogun Horns overcame a thrilling contest against the Delta Braves, winning 26-21 in a game filled with tension and momentum swings. That win propelled the Horns up four spots to fifth place, while the Braves fell from third to sixth, feeling the full weight of a narrow loss.

Meanwhile, the Lagos rebels announced themselves as serious contenders and defeated Cross River Ikan 27–8. The result caused a surprising rise from 8th to 4th for the Rebels, while Ikan suffered one of the hardest blows of the day: he fell from 2nd to 7th.

The Ibom Raptors completed the day’s action with a confident 33–9 victory over the Delta Panthers, moving up to third place and further shaking up the initial standings. The Panthers, however, fell sharply from fourth to eighth, highlighting how unforgiving the competition has become.

At the bottom, the Rivers Alphas had a tough start and remained rooted in 10th place after a tough loss, and already needed work to turn their season around.

But beyond the numbers, one message rang loud and clear throughout Showtime Arena: This is a new level.

From blowout victories to last-minute battles, Showtime Bowl Series XIV has come to life and delivers exactly what fans expect: intensity, unpredictability and elite flag football at its highest level in Africa.

Week 1 has spoken.
And already, the race for the crown is wide open.
