Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered the suspension of public servants absent from duty effective 10am on Thursday, March 26, 2026, during his surprise visit to the state secretariat in Awka.
Soludo gave the directive after conducting an on-site assessment of the punctuality, conduct and commitment of workers in various ministries and departments.
Addressing reporters after the visit, the governor said workers who were not found at their jobs at 10 a.m. should be suspended without pay.
Soludo says: “I entered several offices and found a significant number of workers not yet at work, at past 10 am

“This is unacceptable.”
He noted that “bad eggs” in the system would be eliminated, adding that Anambra State cannot afford an inefficient civil service.
The governor described his findings as a mix of “the good, the bad and the ugly.”
While expressing his dissatisfaction with the absenteeism and poor work ethic of some employees, Soludo also praised the diligent workers.
Soludo warned that the state government will no longer tolerate indiscipline and lack of commitment in the civil service.
He reiterated his administration’s determination to build a disciplined, efficient and results-oriented workforce, adding that the reforms will be strictly enforced.
