FG is committed to expanding Nigeria’s footprint in international peace and security efforts

The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), attended the opening session of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on Tuesday, alongside Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON who led the Nigerian delegation to the global conference.

A statement by Press Assistant to the Minister Leah Katung-Babatunde, noted that following the opening assembly, the Minister paid an operational visit to the Defense Section at the Permanent Mission of Nigeria to the United Nations.

During the visit, General Musa received a comprehensive briefing on the Section’s strategic activities and operational commitments from the Defense Attache, Brigadier General EA Koleosho.

In his remarks, the minister commended Brigadier General Koleosho and his team for their exemplary professionalism, steadfast loyalty and commitment to upholding the highest ideals of both the United Nations and the Nigeria Armed Forces.

General Musa also reiterated the determination of the Federal Government, under the presidency of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to restore and expand Nigeria’s active footprint in international peace and security efforts.

He stressed that the Administration remains deeply committed to reinvigorating Nigeria’s participation in peacekeeping operations around the world to promote stability and security.
