Igor Tudor has left his position as Tottenham Hotspur interim manager after just 44 days and seven games, BBC Sport reports.
Spurs said they had “mutually agreed” with the Croatian to part ways with “immediate effect”.
The decision comes a week after a damaging 3-0 home defeat to fellow club Nottingham Forest on March 22, a result that left Spurs 17th in the table and just one point above the relegation places with seven games remaining.
Tottenham have suffered five defeats in seven games in all competitions since Tudor replaced the sacked Thomas Frank on February 14, with a contract until the end of the season.
Spurs said: “An update on the new head coach will be provided in due course.”
BBC Sport understands that Spurs will appoint Tudor’s replacement in the coming days by the time most of the players return from international duty.
Tudor’s assistant Bruno Saltor will oversee the club’s training.
They confirmed that goalkeeping coach Tomislav Rogic and physical trainer Riccardo Ragnacci have also left the team.
Tudor, 47, did not take part in post-match media duties following the defeat to Forest due to the death of his father.
“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts over the past six weeks, during which they have worked tirelessly,” Spurs said in a statement.
“We also recognize the grief Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”
Tudor lost each of his first four games as Spurs boss. An opening defeat to north London rivals Arsenal was followed by defeats against Fulham and Crystal Palace in the league before a calamitous 5-2 defeat in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie against Atlético Madrid.
He celebrated his first point after Richarlison scored a 90th-minute equalizer at Liverpool, and then saw his team win the second leg against Atlético, although they failed to overturn their three-goal deficit.
However, the unfortunate defeat to Forest raised Spurs’ fears of suffering their first relegation from the top flight since 1977 and proved to be the last game of their brief spell.
The only point Spurs have accumulated since Tudor’s appointment is the lowest of any Premier League team during that time.
But they have been at the bottom of the table since mid-December.
They are winless in 13 league games since a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on December 28 (88 days ago), while their last win in any competition was over Eintracht Frankfurt on January 28.
Among their problems this season is a laundry list of long-term injuries to key players, including the likes of James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Tottenham will resume their league campaign after the international break with a trip to 11th-placed Sunderland on April 12.
