Ogun 2027: Iyabo Obasanjo meets Tinubu and declares his governorship ambitions

A former senator and governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Iyabo Obasanjo, on Monday held a closed-door meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos, where he formally briefed him on his 2027 governorship ambitions.

Sources privy to the meeting revealed that the discussion centered on Obasanjo’s plan to contest the Ogun State governorship election, with the former lawmaker presenting his vision for governance, infrastructure development and improving public service delivery in the state.

Obasanjo was learned to use the opportunity to outline his strategic priorities, stressing the need for inclusive growth and sustainable development if elected to office.

The APC leader also reportedly reflected on his long-standing political relationship with Tinubu, describing it as forged over years of commitment and mutual respect.

He noted that the relationship had significantly influenced his political trajectory and leadership philosophy.

During the meeting, Obasanjo reaffirmed his loyalty to the ruling party and pledged his commitment to its ideals, assuring the President of his willingness to mobilize grassroots support ahead of the next general elections.

He also expressed willingness to play an active role in Tinubu’s re-election bid, underscoring his dedication to strengthening the party’s electoral fortunes.
