Three arrested for killing Kogi graduate by stealing tricycle

The Kogi State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the gruesome killing of a young graduate in the state.

This was announced by the command spokesperson, ASP Afusat Saliu, in a statement released on Wednesday 8 April 2026.

Saliu said the suspects were arrested through a well-coordinated operation at Otokiti estate in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, on March 25.

Saliu said two of the suspects, allegedly posing as construction workers, lured the victim to a secluded area, killed him with a shovel and stole his tricycle.

The police spokesperson revealed that the victim’s family reported him missing on March 18, after he left home on his tricycle, only to find his lifeless body around 8 CBN area in Lokoja on March 19.

She explained that the investigations led to the arrest of the two suspects, who confessed to the crime and revealed that they had sold the tricycle to the third suspect.

Saliu said the police recovered the tricycle along with four other motorcycles stolen by the third suspect in Anyigba, Dekina Local Government Area of ​​Kogi State.

He said further investigations revealed that the suspects were ex-convicts, previously linked to several murder and armed robbery cases.

Saliu said the suspects were charged to court and assured the public that the police were committed to ridding Kogi State of crime.
