Alaafin warns land grabbers about invading Oyo communities

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Engineer Akeem Owoade, on Friday warned land grabbers encroaching on other people’s properties to stay away from villages in Oyo West Local Government Area.

Oba Owoade made the warning in a statement issued by his Director of Media and Publicity, Bode Durojaiye, in Ibadan.

According to the statement, land grabbers most often use violence, threats or force to exact compensation from property owners.

Oba Owoade said the warning was a result of violent attacks unleashed on residents of 12 villages in Oyo West by land grabbers, namely Itosi Yaya; Tella Omooba; Jowe, Idi-Iyalode; Mind you; Ladin; Janna; Ojutaye; Iporin Kajola; Ajibade; Laagbe and Ariwinyo.

Alaafin argues that Oyo metropolis is blessed with a very large geographical area, “so there is no denying that land is an important factor, if not the most important factor, for economic growth.”

He said his administration gives top priority to peace, order and security of lives and properties in the Kingdom, adding that it will leave no stone unturned in its determination to uphold peace and security.

Oba Owoade advised members of the public to ignore any individual, group or company presenting itself as the rightful owner of land mass in communities.
