Tensions at Sevilla FC have reached a boiling point following a humiliating 1-0 defeat to bottom side Real Oviedo.
The defeat to Oviedo is widely described by Sevilla fans as the club’s most embarrassing defeat of the season.
According to L’Équipe, around 50 masked fans intercepted the Sevilla players at the entrance to the club’s training facilities after the match.
The group reportedly hurled insults at players and staff, including Nigerian internationals Akor Adams and Chidera Ejuke, as frustrations over the team’s dismal form boiled over.
Sevilla fights hard
The team has so far recorded 15 defeats, in addition to only eight wins and seven draws, which leaves it in 17th place, just two points away from the relegation zone.
Sevilla’s alarming form has led to major changes behind the scenes, including the sacking of former coach Matías Almeyda on March 23, 2026.
In an attempt to stabilize the situation, Sevilla appointed Luis García Plaza as head coach until 2027.
