Troops foil attack, rescue hostages in nationwide operation

Operation Hadin Kai troops thwarted terrorist attacks and rescued kidnapped people in various operations in the north of the country.

They also intercepted suspected logistical supplies in operations carried out in the last 24 hours.

In an operational report provided to journalists on Monday, the Nigerian Army revealed that its troops intercepted a truck carrying a large quantity of medical supplies allegedly meant for terrorist elements in the North East.

The truck, according to the report, was intercepted at a checkpoint in Nguru, Yobe, where the driver initially presented a waybill for drinks and household goods.

“A detailed search turned up hundreds of cartons of medicine, including antibiotics, injections, bandages and other medical equipment.

“The driver and three passengers were arrested. The suspect later admitted that the shipment was sent to the Republic of Chad via Geidam.

“In a related development, soldiers arrested a suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorist in Ngamdu, Borno, who claimed to have been sent from Jilli to buy food for the rebels.

“The suspect revealed that terrorists are currently gathering around the Gubio and Magumeri areas.

“Troops also arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators in Monguno, who were suspected of facilitating the movement of terrorist family members.

“The items recovered included mobile phones, cash and other personal items, while a woman and her three children linked to the terrorist kingpin were later arrested.

“Troops thwarted a terrorist infiltration attempt in Askira Uba Local Government Area of ​​Borno State.

“They engaged the rebels in an ambush, forcing them to flee and abandon their weapons and other belongings, adding that follow-up operations succeeded in rescuing three kidnapped victims from the terrorist enclave.

“In Bama Local Government Area, soldiers destroyed terrorist camps during clearance operations, forcing insurgents to retreat under pressure.

“Similarly, Operation Safe Haven troops recovered a weapon from the suspect during a stop and search operation in Plateau.

“They also arrested a suspected shooter and rescued another victim who was kidnapped in Bauchi following an earlier airstrike exploit.

“In the Federal Capital Territory, troops carrying out an anti-illegal mining operation raided a location in Gwagwalada, recovering mining equipment, while the suspects fled,” the report said.
