The PDP praised Makinde’s steady support for multi-party democracy

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South West has commended Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, for his strong and steady drive to keep Nigeria’s multi-party democracy alive and thriving.

The party’s zonal executives pointed out that Makinde has been consistent in his efforts to ensure opposition parties have space to operate.

PDP Zonal Publicity Secretary, Sanya Atofarati, who spoke to journalists at a press conference in Ibadan, said the governor’s position had strengthened democracy in the country.

Atofarati said that the party in the Southwest “stands firmly behind Makinde.”

“His administration continues to demonstrate stability, focus and unwavering commitment to delivering the benefits of democracy to the good people of Oyo State,” the spokesperson said.

He said recent rumors of impeachment plans against the governor were baseless, fabricated and should be ignored by all well-meaning Nigerians.

“The rumored impeachment plans are nothing more than a calculated attempt to create unnecessary political tension,” Atofarati added.

According to him, the PDP in the South West reaffirmed its total solidarity with the Nigerian people in the face of deepening economic hardship, insecurity and growing uncertainty across the country.

He said his party remains steadfast in its commitment to offering a credible alternative based on people-focused governance, stability and national progress.

The spokesperson urged Nigerians to remain calm, vigilant and united, and reject all attempts by political actors to create a crisis or destabilize the country for selfish political gain.

“Furthermore, the PDP in the Southwest pledges its unwavering support and loyalty to the Turaki-led National Working Committee (NWC),” he concluded.
