Former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, on Saturday received a membership card of the All Progressives Congress (APC), following his return to the party.
Shekarau received the card in Giginyu constituency in Kano
The former governor was accompanied by Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, Chairman of the Kano State House of Representatives and other party supporters.
In brief remarks after receiving his card, Shekarau expressed appreciation for the support shown by party members and reiterated his commitment to the growth of the APC in Kano and beyond.
He said the development “reflects the ongoing political realignment in the state.”
Shekarau’s return represents a significant moment in Kano politics as the former governor has a large following in the North West state.
With his switch to the APC, Shekarau is expected to join forces with former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje to take on another former governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, who recently left the New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
