Man Utd beat Liverpool to qualify for next season’s Champions League

Manchester United have secured their place in next season’s Champions League after beating Liverpool 3-2 in a Premier League match at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Red Devils took a 2-0 lead in the first half, thanks to early goals from Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko.

Liverpool then came back to equalize in the second half, with Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo both taking advantage of mistakes to equalize.

But United still won the day when Kobbie Mainoo scored a 77th-minute winner to inspire a frenzied finish, with the hosts holding on to win.

United boss Michael Carrick has now beaten Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea to complete a clean sweep of England’s ‘Super League’ clubs.

It is not yet known whether the club will keep caretaker boss Carrick as manager at the end of the season.

In another Premier League match played earlier in the day, Bournemouth beat Crystal Palace 3-0 to boost their hopes of finishing in European competition.
