The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kaduna State has appealed to the Kaduna State Government to approve an upward adjustment in food support for corps members during orientation camp and also review the monthly allowance paid to corps members serving in the state.

The appeal was made on Tuesday by the NYSC Coordinator in Kaduna State, Mrs. Efeke Murna Dadaza, during the closing ceremony of the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II Orientation Course at the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, Government College, Kaduna.

Dadaza said the request was necessary in view of the need to improve the well-being and living conditions of members of the corps deployed in the State.

He commended the Kaduna State Government for the hospitality and support extended to the corps members, saying the government’s cooperation contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the orientation exercise.

The state coordinator, however, urged the government to consider improving the food package provided during orientation camps and revising upwards the monthly stipend paid to corps members.

She believes better social incentives would boost corps member morale and encourage greater commitment throughout the service year.

He also advised the corps members to maintain the discipline and values acquired during the orientation course and remain good ambassadors of the NYSC project.

Dadaza encouraged them to quickly settle in their various places of primary assignment and contribute positively to the development of their host communities.

He also urged them to actively participate in Community Development Service (CDS) activities that can have a significant impact on the grassroots.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Gloria Ibrahim, urged the corps members to accept their assignments in good faith, especially in rural areas where their services were highly needed.

The governor described the NYSC program as an important platform for national unity, character building and grassroots development.

He assured members of the state government body of commitment to ensuring a peaceful and conducive atmosphere for them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.

Sani also called on organizations in both the public and private sectors to support corps members and create opportunities for them to contribute meaningfully to their jobs.

He also encouraged corps members to maximize the opportunities provided by the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) program to become self-reliant after national service.

The governor subsequently declared the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course officially closed.
