Nigeria’s U-20 women’s national team, the Falconets, have been drawn in Group F alongside former champions Spain, China and debutants New Caledonia for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2026.

The tournament draw ceremony was held on Friday in Lodz, Poland, setting up what is expected to be a highly competitive group for the seven-time African champions.

The Falconets, widely regarded as one of the most consistent teams in the history of the competition, will once again seek their first world title after finishing runners-up on two occasions. Nigeria also remains the only African nation to have qualified for every edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup since the tournament began.

Her toughest challenge on paper will likely be against Spain, one of the strongest women’s football nations in Europe and former world champions at this level. China also brings with it vast experience and pedigree from Asia, while New Caledonia will make its first appearance on the world stage.

Despite the tough draw, the Falconets will be hoping to advance to the knockout rounds as they aim to finally turn years of promise into overall success.

The 12th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup will take place in Poland from September 5 to 27, 2026, in four host cities.
