Crowd problems disrupt APC primaries in Lagos districts

The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Ward C1, Alimosho Local Government Area of ​​Lagos State, was disrupted on Saturday over the choice of candidates.

The constituency seat is a contest between Mr Ganiyu Ayuba and Ms Adebisi Adebajo.

At 1.45pm when the Chairman of Alimosho LGA, Mr Akintunde Johnson, arrived in the ward, party supporters started chanting the name of their preferred candidate.

The chairman is a well-known supporter of one of the candidates.

This ugly sight caused disruption to training.

Speaking on the development, former APC Chairman in Alimosho, Tosin Fatoki, said elections will no longer be held in the ward.

He said: “Primaries will no longer be held in this area, given the intense divisions among party supporters against their preferred candidates.

“On the arrival of Alimosho LGA Chairman, you could observe agitation among the patient former members of the party.

“With this upheaval, many of them have disbanded, so no primaries can be held here today.”

Other loyalists blamed the Alimosho LGA chairman for the chaos.

“They think that because they are in power, they can influence party members’ choice of candidates, but we will not let that happen.

“Due to this intimidation, there are no elections in this sub-district. Just look, the community has dispersed,” he said.
